Get inverted! - Chose to have my legs up the wall for 10 minutes and kickstart my recovery instead of doing a ‘finisher’ today. - Progress is often defined more by how fast or well you recover than the actual workout. - I was definitely fatigued from yesterday’s deadlifts before embarking on... - 4 x 15 Hip Thrust 25-15-10 Double KB Squat RFESS / Single leg hip thrust superset 4 x 12 - Looks so much easier on paper 😂 - Wasn’t my best self towards the end of that lol, feeling much better now 😁

🍑Hump Day aka Deadlift Day for me. - Hit up the same sets and reps as last week, 220kgs x 5. - Felt better, a little different than last week, more interested in my recovery. - Nothing sinister, more so general soreness because deadlifts work just about everything 🍑

Backed the weight down a little today and upped the reps. - 20% increase in reps...went from sets of five to sets of six 😂 - Still it makes a difference and I’ll look to get to 120/130kgs over the next few weeks. - Happy with my range / depth here. Angles aren’t perfect but in general my squat is improving. - Wearing lifters again here to help with position but it’s key that I keep improving my unweighted, unassisted squat position.

#flashbackfriday Started off this year with 220kgs x 5 on the straight bar. I’m about 10% stronger on the Trap bar so in theory I could do 242kgs x 5...either way it’s up from this time last year 😃 ・・・ Started off the year with 210kg x 4, felt as though I could have squeezed out another rep...much better than last week which is the main thing!

Found my limit here! - Squatting 25 reps on the 56kg kettlebell...did the same last week but had to pause at the bottom of half the reps. - Today’s goal was to get through 25 unbroken reps and it was going beautifully until the last rep when my body rejected squats! - Got it done, progress not perfection, pretty much had nothing left for the rest of the session 😅

Pretty much the same post as last week... - Deadlifting is my favourite! - Two steps forward, one step back with these which is more than fine. - Back to 220kgs this week and managed to squeeze out 5 reps. - That’s one more than a fortnight ago but I’m guessing it’s because I was lighter with no shirt 😂 - One rep more on most weeks, or an extra kilo on the bar here and there all adds up. - Consistency is key but as per my post last week you need to know that not every workout will be a winner.

Kicking off 2018 with some tough squats. - Decided to leave the lifters, aka Squat Shoes, aka Roms, aka Romaleos off today and squat in my flat Vivobarefoots. - The lifters definitely help my stability and position but I wanted to see how I went without them. - One of my goals this year is to have a much improved BODYWEIGHT SQUAT. - This will in turn help all the squats I do and 130kgs for three reps is what I managed today. - Happy New Year 🎉🎉🎉

Normally the only cleaning I do is in the bloody house but played around with some cleans at the gym yesterday 👌🏽 Any lifting I do is self taught and I’ve only done power cleans before. Yesterday I tried some cleans, trying to get under the bar. I did ok 😂🙈 nothing special but I did ok! Stoked to at least do a few - I haven’t done as much strength work in the last 4-6 weeks as I hurt my back and just want it right before I lift heavy things. No idea how I hurt it, I think it was a build up of a lot of weights, not enough warming up and cooling down to be honest so a big smack to me 😳😳 Bring on 2018, for another year of health and happiness 🙌🏼

Tried to squat the 80kg Kettlebell today...managed zero reps on two attempts! - That thing is big and awkward so I’ll leave it for another day. - Dropped back to the 48kg in an attempt to get 25 reps and nailed it. - We call that one the @drjohnrusin squat test. - The goal is to do 25 reps with half your body weight on the goblet squat...reverse engineering it means I can afford to gain 20kgs over Christmas!!
